Characteristics of healthcare organisations struggling to improve quality: results from a systematic review of qualitative studies

  • This systematic review of 30 international studies identified five distinct domains which typified struggling healthcare organisations: (1) Poor organisational culture, (2) Inadequate infrastructure, (3) Lack of a cohesive mission and vision, (4) System shocks and (5) Dysfunctional external relations.
