Criteria for evaluating transferability of health interventions: A systematic review and thematic synthesis.

  • This systematic review aims to develop model for the assessment of transferability of public health interventions through identification and systematization of influencing criteria, including facilitators and barriers. 
  • Synthesis resulted in two related models: the conceptual PIET-T model explains the underlying mechanism of transferability of health interventions and the PIET-T process model provides practical guidance for a transferability assessment.

Predictive risk stratification model (PRISM)

Predictive risk stratification model: a randomised stepped-wedge trial in primary care (PRISMATIC).

  • Evaluation of the effects of introducing Predictive RIsk Stratification Model (PRISM) into 32 general practices in south Wales. 
  • Across 230,099 participants, PRISM implementation led to increased emergency admissions to hospital, ED attendances, GP event-days, outpatient visitsand time spent in hospital. PRISM implementation cost £0.12 per patient per year and costs of health-care use per patient were higher in the intervention phase.

  • A framework to support CCGs with their development of collaborative commissioning arrangements with other CCGs. 
  • A set of FAQs is also available 
  • The model should be read in conjunction with ‘A framework for collaborative commissioning between clinical commissioning groups’
  • An updated data table has also been published which shows the relationship between each CCG and its providers based on acute, maternity and ambulance data. (Data taken from Hospital Episode Statistics and relate to 2010/11 admission episodes with specialised services, maternity, well babies and mental health excluded.)
