CQC assessment of care across a whole place

  • This CQC pilot will combine the results of CQC inspections with intelligence from local and national organisations to create a better understanding of the quality of care of a whole place. 
  • The reports on the quality of care in an area will :
    • inform the public about the quality of their local services and how well they work together.
    • show providers and commissioners of health and care where they need to improve to serve local people better.
    • highlight findings that show where good joint working has benefited people who use health and care services.
  • The initial pilots are Greater Manchester (with an in-depth look at Salford and Tameside) and North Lincolnshire.

    • quantifies premature deaths from the four most common causes of mortality in England – heart disease and stroke, lung disease, liver disease, and cancer
    • highlights inequalities in premature mortality across the country 
    • provides examples of effective local interventions.
    • provides data around socioeconomic deprivation
