The capped expenditure process explained

The capped expenditure process explained
Kings Fund 29 June 2017
  • To respond to financial pressures facing the NHS, NHS England and NHS Improvement have introduced a capped expenditure process (CEP) to provide tighter controls on NHS spending.
  • The CEP aims to contain or ‘cap’ spending in specific areas of the country, and differs to existing financial controls in its focus on health care systems (including both commissioners and providers of health care), rather than individual organisations.
  • Note - the page lists a range of programmes aimed at addressing financial challenge.
