- This review looked at whether personal health and care information is being used safely and is appropriately protected in the NHS. The report does not examine IT systems.
- Evidence was gathered through staff interviews, observing practice and examining documentation in NHS hospitals, GP surgeries and dental practices, a confidential online survey, literature review and expert panel of stakeholders and individual experts in the field.
- The report makes six recommendations around leadership; information, tools and training; IT systems; outdated technology; audit and validation and CQC assessment.
