- Outcomes of a one day workshop by HFMA in conjunction with The King’s Fund and Monitor for NHS finance leaders in May 2013 to debate a future NHS payment system.
- Participants agreed a revised system would need to be built on several principles:
- Provide full coverage and encourage whole system working
- Link payment to outcomes where appropriate
- Incentivise the transformation of services
- Be rules-based and support long-term planning.
