Changes to key websites

Health websites are changing on 1 April 2013
Update 8 April

Many health related websites will be changing to reflect the changes across the health service.
  • The Department of Health website is now part of gov.uk. While some dh.gov.uk links have been redirected, many have not.
  • DH microsites will also be transferred to gov.uk. 
  •  Updated: Contents of the DH Transparency website have been transferred to the data gov website http://www.data.gov.uk/publisher/department-of-health and a number of key statistical resources are listed here: http://www.england.nhs.uk/statistics/statistical-work-areas/  
  • It is unclear how the DH Modernisation website will be affected.
  • NHS Commissioning Board website has been relabelled www.england.nhs.uk   and links are being redirected.
  • Resources on the NHS Institute and NHS Improvement will be available for a limited time only after April 1st.
  • Updated: A new organisation within NHS England - NHS Improving Quality - will draw on work done by a number of legacy organisations including NHS Improvement, NHS Institute for Innovation & Improvement, National End of Life Care Programme, National Cancer Action Team, NHS Diabetes and Kidney Care
  • Public health observatories will become part of Public Health England. Location of the PHO resources is as yet unclear but currently they are still available on the APHO site
  • RightCare - "All existing products of Right Care (Atlases of Variation, Right Care Casebooks, Tools, Health Investment Packs and other publications) will remain accessible from the Right Care website until further notice."
National Archives
  • Many websites, including Department of Health and defunct NHS trusts,  have been archived on the National Archives
  • To search for a specific document use the Advanced Search facility: http://webarchive.nationalarchives.gov.uk/adv_search/ 
  • You can search by category or on a specific website - eg dh.gov.uk
