Intensive Planning Support Programme for challenged health economies

Making local health economies work better for patients
Monitor, NHS England, TDA, December 2014
  • Following on from the development of five-year strategic plans and detailed two year operational plans by local health economies (LHEs) in England, external advisers were asked to support 11 challenged health economies with their planning processes. As part of the work to improve these plans the national partners developed the Intensive Planning Support Programme (IPSP) to deliver additional support where it would have the greatest impact.
  • The 11 areas were: Cambridge and Peterborough; Cumbria; Devon; Eastern Cheshire/Southern Sector; East Sussex; Leicestershire; Mid Essex; Northamptonshire; North East London; Staffordshire; and South West London.
  • This report includes a summary of results from each phase of the IPSP including challenges, solutions, key risks, next steps and lessons learned.
