- An analysis of a variety of clinical measures found no systematic evidence of poorer quality in small hospitals.
- While the analysis found a limited correlation between size and financial performance, that relationship is becoming stronger and creating an increasing need for many smaller providers to change what care they deliver in particular around staffing levels, consolidation of specialist care and moves to improve the delivery of care out of hospital.
