CQC, 6 March 2014
- Report of the findings from 18 CQC pilot hospital inspections completed during 2013 as the first step in a radical change to its approach.
- The report concludes that compassionate care is alive and well in the NHS. Inspectors found care and compassion among frontline staff in every hospital visited, as well as a strong commitment to the NHS.
- There were some general areas for concern that providers, commissioners and national bodies need to be aware of and act on:
- A&E departments are under the greatest strain.
- Most services don’t know whether they are effective or not (exceptions are apart from critical care and maternity)
- Outpatient services were poor across the Wave 1 inspections.
