  • NHS Improvement has sent all CEOs and finance directors of all trusts and FTs a letter which lists the back office function areas they plan to benchmark and which should be priorities for review in business plans.
  • They are: 
    • Finance - Financial accounts; Income-planning ; Management accounts ; Accounts payable ; Accounts receivable ; Commercial teams ; Internal audit
    • HR - Recruitment ; Workforce analytics ; Business partners ; Temp/Staffbank team ; Learning & development (including training); Communications teams ; Occupational health
    • IM&T - Maintenance team ; Support desk ; Informatics team
    • Procurement - Buying/contract management ; Catalogue management ; Materials management
    • Payroll
    • Governance & Risk 
    • Estates & Facilities 
    • Legal services
