- This Independent Review by Sir Robert Francis draws lessons from the experiences of those involved in raising and handling concerns about the NHS. It provides advice and recommendations to ensure that NHS staff in England feel it is safe to raise concerns, confident that they will be listened to and the concerns will be acted upon.
- It provides the legal and policy context and outlines key themes drawn from evidence presented to it - the need for culture change, improved handling of cases, measures to support good practice, particular measures for vulnerable groups and extending the legal protection.
- The report outlines a number of Principles and Actions which should be implemented across the NHS.
- Appendix A is a Summary of good practice.
- See the new NHS complaints guidance for patients on the NHS Constitution page.
